Harvey’s Supermarket in Blountstown made a generous donation to Altha FCCLA  this past week to be used for their back pack project.  After Harvey’s was bought out by Winn Dixie last year, guidelines changed about donations to community.  The managers of Harvey’s  discussed with the cooperate office the donations of food needed to support the back pack program at Altha.  The cooperate office wanted  to become involved and not let their support drop so they decided to donate two gift cards of $500 each to Altha FCCLA to purchase food when needed for the Back Pack Project.

This project “Altha FCCLA:  Caring and Sharing”  gives back packs of food to children on the weekends who have difficulty having enough food to eat.  The students are either considered homeless, of low income families or may be living with relatives other than their parents.  The back packs are packed with items for breakfast, lunch and or dinner for two days that most of the students can prepare themselves with little assistance in case the parent is not available to help. This year Altha FCCLA is able to help 20 – 26 students each week with this project.

Altha FCCLA wants to publicly thank Harvey’s and Winn Dixie for this generous and needed donation.
